Manchester United News: United is looking for a new manager in the summer. The Old Trafford outfit is looking at the likes of Erik Ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino, and even Ralf Rangnick. However, if reports are to be believed then Ten Hag is the front runner in the race because of his stunning defensive record at Ajax.
The trio of managers will be looked after at the end of the season. Ralf Rangnick was appointed as the interim after United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer because of a disastrous start to the campaign.
Ralf Rangnick has struggled initially but off late he’s churning out results. However, he is no match for Ten Hag. The Dutchman at present is flying high with Ajax.
No one knows who will land the managerial role in summer but with the resurgence of Ten Hag, it’s a tough battle for Rangnick as well as Pochettino.
Manchester United News: Why Ten Hag?
Ten Hag is considered one of the best tactical managers around. He has made an average Ajax squad look like world-beaters. They are now at the first position in Eredivisie as they bid to take over their fourth consecutive league win.
Ajax top of the table journey is incredible. They have just conceded five goals in 20 league games so far this season.
It is very impressive, and it makes more sense why United wants him as their first-choice manager. The Red Devils have conceded 30 times already this season from just 22 games.
Given Ajax’s stunning defensive record and United’s abject one, it makes sense of appointing Ten Hag in the summer. United has a potent attack but if they keep on leaking goals like this, they won’t be challenging for the title.
Will Hag sort out United defensive woes?
Manchester United News: United has assembled one of the most expensive defenses in the entire Premier League on paper. The record English Premier Champions signed Harry Maguire and, in the process, made him the most expensive defender in the world back in 2019.
The three-time European champions also spent £50m on first-choice right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Luke Shaw made a deal of £27m when he came aboard with the club from Southampton back in 2014. As soon as last summer, the desperate Reds paid £34m to bring Raphael Varane to Manchester in summer. However, the Frenchman is plagued by injuries and still settling in.
The Premier League season is halfway done and United’s inability to shut teams out is pegging them back. If Rangnick is not able to achieve Champions League qualification, then he might be out of the summer race before it heats up.
The reports of Ten Hag to United have been everywhere. The Dutchman made the top list after taking a mediocre Ajax to the domestic double.
