Duncan Castles believes the England ace ‘a far less problematic player to have in your squad than Pogba’.
Paul Pogba will be the main headlines for Manchester this summer transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer focuses to overhaul the squad. The Frenchmen has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and previously stated his desire to play under former French World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane. Duncan Castle believes this English player should replace Paul Pogba at Manchester United.
Manchester United should Paul Pogba with Leicester ace James Maddison that’s according to journalist Duncan Castles, who believes the £60m-valued star is ‘a far less problematic player to have in your squad than Pogba’.
The latter has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent months, with the Spanish giants reportedly confident of securing his services.
Pogba has recently flirted with Zinedine Zidane’s side, saying it is ‘a dream for anyone’ to play at the Bernabeu.
And it is believed United are considering replacing the Frenchman with Maddison, 22, which Castles insists ‘would be a very good way for them to go forward.
“I think if Manchester United can get a deal in place for James Maddison, that would be a very good way for them to go forward,” he told The Transfer Window podcast.
He had a very good first season in the Premier League, he’s English which is a huge attraction to any Premier League team, he could add that creativity in midfield and I think importantly he could be the player to replace a lot of the creativity they’ll lose if Real Madrid get their way and sign Paul Pogba this summer.
“What I can tell you is that Madrid are confident that they can get a deal in place for Pogba. They had a transfer meeting last week to firm up their proposed squad for next season and the conclusion was Hazard will be part of that squad, they’re sure they have that deal in place and he should be coming.
The next important high-profile signing is to be Paul Pogba. They think, and I quote, it is really possible they’ll get the player. They’re doing that on the basis that Pogba wants to get out, he’s stated that himself.”
Paul Pogba is expected to perform attacking and defensive duties and it’s the lack of defensive duties that are making the fans and manager upset with him. James Maddison is an attacking player and wouldn’t provide much defensive, something that should be the number one priority for the Red Devils in summer.
