It has now been announced by Premier League outfit Sunderland that they have completed the signing of Belgian international Adnan Januzaj from rivals Manchester United, on a season-long loan. The deal would see the 21-year-old superstar reunite with the former Red Devils and Everton manager David Moyes, who gave the young attacker his first team debut at Old Trafford in 2013.
The winger had impressed onlookers with his performances under Moyes though the team was struggling, during their time together in Manchester and was eventually given a five-year contract at the Theatre Of Dreams, which expires in the summer of 2018.
In the press conference prior to Saturday’s clash against Manchester City, Moyes stated, “Adnan will give us a different variation.”
“I thought he was one of the finest young talents I have ever seen, and he was up there with Wayne Rooney at the age of 18.”
“I have to get him back to the level he played at two years ago. He will get every opportunity to do the business and I’m hoping the Sunderland fans will see the real Adnan Januzaj.”
Further Jose Mourinho insisted that, “We want him back. “He fits in my plans and that is why he’s on loan, and on loan at a Premier League club,” said the Portuguese. “If he doesn’t we don’t care about where he is going, which club, which competition, which manager, and maybe we send him to Borussia Dortmund where he didn’t play one match.”
“We care about him and we think he is a talented player. But to be in a squad with Memphis, Martial, Mkhitaryan, Young, Mata would mean not many matches.”
“So we cannot be selfish and have to think about the players; in this case Adnan. We see him every week in this country. We can compare performances. He is in the right place with a manager that likes him a lot. We want it to go well because we want him back.”
Sunderland have also signed Senegalese centre-back Papy Djilobodji from Chelsea and all four new recruits are in line to make their debuts at the Etihad this weekend.
