Manchester United target approves switch; summer transfer likely

Manchester United have made uncharacteristically impressive additions during the last two windows and look set to continue the good work in the coming summer.

“They have made some terrible investments in terms of recruitment.”This is what Gary Neville had to say about his former club. It had been universally acknowledged that Manchester United have been sub-par since Sir Alex retired. But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival seems to have had the desired effect. The players coming through the door have been impressive and there seems to be a plan in place. And if reports are to be believed, the good work being carried is here to stay for the long term.

Grealish seconds United’s interest

According to reports in England, Jack Grealish has approved the Manchester United transfer. The 24-year-old is said to have agreed an outline of a deal with the Red Devils.

However, it is understood that no formal talks between the clubs involved have taken place yet. It is also being reported that the Aston Villa youngster has begun house hunting in anticipation of a move to Manchester.

Jack Grealish is an interesting little playmaker. The Englishman has been widely used by Dean Smith this season on the left of the forward line. Grealish has already racked up 7 goals and 5 assists in the league in a Villa side desperately trying to fend off relegation. Even if has overperformed his xG, which sits at 10.4(G+A), the Aston Villa captain has been their ‘go-to’ man.

Grealish is a good passer and an effective dribbler. With 2.79 Key Passes per 90 and 2.5 dribbles per game (67% success), he can comfortably progress the ball from midfield, something United lack.

Around 58% of his shots come from inside the box which is also positive. The only concern of United would be him transitioning from a side sitting in 15th in terms of possession per game and being the underdog in a game to Top 6 side which enjoys more of the ball with opposition sitting tight guarding their goal.

Ultimately, Jack Grealish has most of the attributes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking for in a United recruit. He’s young, English, hungry to prove himself, has leadership qualities and also carries a bit of arrogance.

But the youngster has also had a fair share of questionable episodes. Be it being pictured allegedly inhaling nitrous oxide or on the floor in Tenerife after an eventful night with friends. However, if United manage to land a mature Grealish, as he has shown to be this season, they will have some player on their hands.
