In spite of not yet securing his long-term future at Manchester United, Jose Mourinho is plotting transfers for January and will try to convince Ed Woodward to complete a world record move.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho salvaged his job for a few more days after picking up one point against Chelsea after a 2-2 draw at the Stamford Bridge on Saturday. The Red Devils’ manager is now looking safe after steadying Manchester United’s ship ahead of their fixture against Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday.
If the boss gets a positive result then he might as well save his post on the hot seat till December. However, his future is still under scrutiny but at the moment he is safe from the sack. Mourinho is now planning for January’s transfer activity and will ask Ed Woodward to sanction a move for Kalidou Koulibaly.
According to Duncan Castles, José Mourinho is begging the Manchester United board to go all out for Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly. Mourinho is in search of a class centre back. #Mourinho #ManUtd #Napoli pic.twitter.com/zO8LhIHRkI

The Napoli defender signed a new deal at the Stadio San Paolo last year which does not include a release clause. Hence, Carlo Ancelotti is at liberty to demand as much as he wants from the Red Devils and is reported to be looking in excess of £75 million for the Senegalese, who has formed a vital part in his set up.
That would mean that Manchester United would eclipse Liverpool’s world record fee for a defender which they spent while signing Virgil van Dijk from Southampton earlier this year. Koulibaly is open to the prospect of playing in the Premier League and will ask the club to allow him to leave if Manchester United come with serious interest.
It remains to be seen however if Ed Woodward is ready to spend that kind of cash on a defender who is 27 years old and not very marketable. That would not result in too many profits for the club nor would they have a player who can be at his peak for five or ten years. Manchester United should rather consider getting in Milan Skriniar of Inter or Nikola Milenkovic of Fiorentina.
