Manchester United to announce contract extension of THIS player!

The player rejected United’s earlier attempt to extend the contract but he has apparently gone through a change of heart

2019 has kicked off in the right way for Manchester United. Ole Gunnar Solksjaer replanted the attacking traditions in United squad. Every player has benefited from the arrival of the former Cardiff manager. With six wins out of six, it seems United could finish in top 4 this season. However, Manchester United are set to announce the contract extension of this player.

Anthony Martial is close to agreeing on a new five-year contract with Manchester United, according to reports in the British media. Sky Sports is reporting that the 23-year-old France international is closing in on a new deal with the Red Devils as the Premier League outfit look to secure his long-term future.

Martial’s current contract is due to expire at the end of next season. Now it seems that he is set to sign a new and improved deal at Old Trafford. Philippe Lamboley, Martial’s agent confirmed earlier this week that he is in talk over a contract extension. He revealed to RMC on renewal and added that “some details need to be finalised”.

France’s Telefoot has also further said a renewal has agreed which would take Martial to June 2024. An ‘official announcement’ is expected soon and could be announced next week.

Manchester United chiefs were always keen to tie Martial down to a new long-term deal. The discussions with Martial over a new deal recently reached a breakthrough after the striker had rejected a new contract back in October. Martial has played in five of the six Premier League games under Solskjaer, most recently the 2-1 win over Brighton. Along with Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba, Martial has been a completely different animal under the Norwegian.

The trio is finally being allowed to play with freedom, having been restricted under sacked boss Jose Mourinho.

Author’s Take:

It is a piece of very happy news for Manchester United fans. Martial has been standout performers for United this season. Given the hostile environment under Jose, it wasn’t sure whether he will sign a contract or not. The fans now must be expecting De Gea to sign the contract extension now.
