Manchester United to pay it’s star to leave the club!

The player looks likely to leave United after being linked with list of top European clubs.

Manchester United have kicked off their summer transfer activity with the arrival of Daniel James. The winger will add much needed pace to United’s attack. With the likes of Lukaku and Sanchez to leave, the arrival of Daniel James has initiated the much needed overhaul of the squad that Solskjaer wanted. However, it seems Manchester United will be paying this player to leave the club.

De Gea is out of contract next June and they risk losing him on a free unless he is sold in the current transfer window. The Sun claim Paris Saint-Germain are lining up a bid of between £60m and £75m. But the report says United will hand £20m of that straight to De Gea as a ‘golden handshake’ to convince him to leave before running down his contract.

It would mark a huge blow for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who is looking to overhaul his squad. After a disappointing end to the season that culminated with them finishing sixth in the Premier League, the Norwegian needs fresh blood in almost every position.

They have already confirmed the capture of winger Daniel James from Swansea. Signing a new centre-back remains a priority and they have been heavily linked with Leicester’s Harry Maguire, although he is reported to be close to joining rivals Manchester City.

Further reports claim they have launched an £84m bid for Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly. Solskjaer is also looking for a new midfielder and Express Sport understands West Ham youngster Declan Rice is his top target. Elsewhere, United need a new right-back as Ashley Young will be 34 when the new season starts.

Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been linked with Old Trafford as well as PSG’s Thomas Meunier. Meanwhile, United might have to work quickly with the De Gea deal as PSG are said to be hindering Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris as an alternative.

The Sun’s reports says Spurs will demand a huge fee but that they are willing to listen to offers for the Frenchman. Lloris had a difficult campaign but his reputation remains intact in his homeland.

PSG have prioritised signing a new keeper as a replacement for veteran Gianluigi Buffon.

Author’s Take:

Manchester United shouldn’t wait till next season to decide De Gea’s future. It’s better to lose Spaniard for a hefty fee rather than losing him on free. To lose De Gea for free would be the last thing that Ole must be hoping.
