Manchester United former boss Jose Mourinho moaned since the last summer for the addition of a new centre-back
Manchester United was leaking lots of goals at the start of the season under Jose Mourinho. They conceded 5 goals in the opening two games of the season against Tottenham and Brighton.

United Defence Case
United was looking completely different team under Ole Gunner Solskjaer having only lost once under the new manager this season. The defence is also looking more stable and conceded fewer goals than under Mourinho.
Victor Lindelof is the best in the defence for the Red Devils and the other defenders have also starting to show their quality and provide stability to the team. United supporters were fed up with Jones and Smalling at the start of the season for their below-par performance under Mourinho.
The change in management at United provide them with another boast for them to perform better for the manager and the team. United defender shows more class and stability than the Mourinho makes everyone to believe.
Manchester United is certainly going to add a defender in the team in the coming transfer window but the current defensive players are not that bad either.
United Transfer Priorities
United is certainly going to add a defender in the team but the Red Devils more pressing need after the recent games would be an attacker. Manchester United need to add depth in their attacking department after the recent display.
Lukaku and Sanchez are both underperforming this season and only showing their class on some occasions. Their improvement is also only marginal under the new boss Ole.
United need to sign a new forward if both the players did not start to perform for the team on a consistent basis. United need to invest in the likes of Jadon Sancho or Timo Werner to ignite their attacking threat while going forward.
Injuries to Lingard and Martial against PSG has shown their lack in the depth of attacking department. With both Lukaku and Sanchez not performing to their capabilities the red devils are in very hard situation on the attacking front.
United need to invest more in the forward than they need in the defender for the time being.
AUTHOR’s TAKE
Manchester United has started to show their capabilities under the new boss Ole Gunner Solskjaer but the injuries to the attacking duo of Lingard and Martial exposed their lack of depth in the attacking options.
No-doubt United need to strengthen their defence to compete at the highest level but they need more attacking options in the team to threat opposing team more. United need to sign a new forward who can threaten the opposition goal more often with his pace and finishing.
