Manchester United Transfer News: The Erik Ten Hag era at Old Trafford has been nothing less than a reality check. They were very much humbled on the pitch by Brighton. It seems that they will be continued to be humbled in the transfer market as well.
According to Gazzetta Della Sport via Juventus News 24, Adrien Rabiot is not keen on signing for the Red Devils. There were many reports that the two clubs have agreed on a fee for the player. However, the latest update will be an embarrassment for Manchester United.
A lack of Champions League football has been attributed as the reason behind his reluctance to join the club. Last season, the Red Devils finished sixth on the table. Thus they have only Europa League to offer.
While Rabiot has been playing Champions League for quite some time now. He previously played for Paris Saint Germain as well. In 2019 he joined the Juve on a free transfer.
Manchester United Transfer News: More trouble in the transfer market
It has been very much clear that the Red Devils are in need of a rebuild. However, they haven’t managed to sign their top targets. Christian Eriksen arrived on a free transfer and Lisandro Martínez was signed from Ajax.
Apart from these two, no big names have arrived at Old Trafford. They did agree on fee for Frankie De Jong with Barcelona. However, the player is not interested in singing for the English side.
To add more salt to the wounds, there have been reports that the player will be open to signing for Chelsea. Further, the fans have expressed their anguish when Red Devils made a bid for Marko Arnautović.
The fans were not even in favour of singing Rabiot. But now the player himself has rejected the move. Also, the Cristiano Ronaldo saga hasn’t been hidden from anyone.
Potential alternatives to Rabiot
The report from Gazzetta Dello Sport has stated that Juve have left the player to take the decision. However, from the looks of it, there seems to be little chance that he will sign for Manchester United.
Although some might suggest that the Red Devils have dodged a bullet. This is because, since his arrival, the Frenchman hasn’t been able to find consistency. He is unlikely to prove to be an upgrade from Fred and Scot McTominay.
Thus they will now have to look for alternative players. It is very much clear that Ten Hag is looking for a deep-lying midfielder. He needs a regista like Jorginho, Rodri, Fabiano etc. who dictate the game from deep.
In the present circumstances, Ruben Neves seems to be the best option. He is likely to cost less than other options like Declan Rice and he can be effective as well. The Wolves midfielder has good Premier League experience as well.
