Manchester United Transfer News: According to reports, Manchester United defender Eric Bailly is once again on the radar of French giants Marseille. They had attempted to buy him in January
Manchester United Transfer News:Â After failing to buy Manchester United defender Eric Bailly during the winter transfer window, according to French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Marseille are preparing to renew their interest in him.
After leaving Villarreal, Bailly joined Manchester United in 2016. Thus, becoming the club’s first signing of the Jose Mourinho era. While the Ivory Coast international got off to a good start at Old Trafford, injuries and fitness issues hampered his progress throughout his time there.
With the arrival of new centre-backs like Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, and Raphael Varane at the club in recent years, he has fallen farther down the pecking order.
Indeed, Bailly has appeared in less than 15 games in the Premier League in each of the previous four seasons. He has appeared in only four games so far in the current season.

Manchester United intends to add another defender before the start of next season. So, the former Villarreal defender is looking to leave the club during the summer transfer period.
There has been interest in the Manchester United defender from both Spain and Italy. Jose Mourinho is eyeing a reunion with the player at AS Roma. Following in the footsteps of Roma, Marseille has surfaced as a possible destination for Bailly ahead of the summer transfer window.
As reported by Fabrice Hawkins, Marseille were interested in signing the Ivory Coast international on a season-long loan move during the January transfer window.
The agreement was to keep him until the end of the season. It was not to be, though, and club president Pablo Longoria has not ruled out making another effort to recruit Bailly soon.
This time around, Marseille is attempting to recruit Bailly on a long-term contract from Manchester United. After the season, Arsenal will welcome back William Saliba to their ranks.
Other teams, including Atletico Madrid, are showing an interest in him. Nonetheless, Arsenal may opt to retain him as a player at the Emirates Stadium.
Future of Eric Bailly:
Consequently, Marseille will need a new defensive midfielder to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season. To do this, the club has identified Bailly as a potential target. He just signed a new deal with Manchester United last year.
This will keep him at the club until 2024. The Red Devils, on the other hand, may be willing to sell him because of his declining standing among the group as a whole.
According to the source, Bailly is drawing a lot of attention from Italian scouts. The club will decide on his future after the season. A departure from Manchester United seems to be all but inevitable. However, it is still unclear if he would choose to transfer to France or whether he will join a team in Italy or Spain.
