Manchester United Transfer News: The Red Devils’ transfer executives are said to have gone into the Netherlands to finalise a deal for Ajax winger Antony.
Last season, the winger shone under Erik ten Hag as the Dutch giants won the Eredivisie title for the second year in a row. From the right-wing, he scored 12 goals and added 10 assists. This is one position that has become a thorn in United’s side in previous seasons.
Ten Hag appears to have been persuaded by Antony’s performances to bring him to Old Trafford. Last season, the Red Devils had a disastrous campaign, missing out on Champions League qualification.
Ten Hag has been tasked with rebuilding his squad in order to make it competitive for prizes and higher Premier League standings. While it was anticipated that a move for Frenkie de Jong was the top priority, it appears that a deal for Antony has moved more quickly.
Manchester United Transfer News: What does the report say?
According to The Sun, United officials have travelled to Amsterdam to finalize Antony’s transfer. The Red Devils are willing to pay £40 million to make the Brazilian.
United’s new manager is thought to be eager to see Antony begin his rebuilding of the Premier League’s fallen giants. After signing from Sao Paulo, the winger had an excellent relationship with Ten Hag and praised him after he officially departed Ajax.
“I’d like to wish you the best of luck at your new club. I’d like to express my gratitude for everything you’ve taught me. I am grateful for all of the opportunities and opportunities to learn every day. Know that if you need me, I will always be there,” he said.
Last season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick tried to find a solution to the right-wing position’s problems. Ten Hag will be hoping that Antony may be the guy to ultimately solve the problem.
Antony first, four more signings after that?
As Ten Hag strives to turn around his squad’s bad form, Antony will be the first of five new recruits he hopes will be made. The search for De Jong is going, albeit slowly. A midfielder and a center-back are both on Ten Hag’s wish list.
“My confidence stems from the fact that I have a positive impression of the individuals around me. The meetings have given me a fantastic vibe. We’ve devised a strategy, and now it’s time to put that strategy into action.”
We will accomplish the success we want if we cooperate, stick to our plan and we have good people around us with the proper connection and commitment,” Ten Hag declared during his first press conference as United manager.
“I’m continuing analysing in order to draw conclusions. I’m excited to collaborate with these individuals. This team finished second in the league the previous season, indicating that it has a lot of promise. I believe that if we develop and work together, we can achieve more than what we have so far this season.”
