Manchester United transfer news: The Red Devils are close to signing Casemiro
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are in talks to sign Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro.
The Red Devils will make a €60 million bid to the Blancos later today to conclude the deal. United is offering Casemiro a contract until 2026, plus an option for a further season.
Singing a new midfielder is among the key priorities for Erik ten Hag this window after losing Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic. The Manchester outfit was also linked with Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot in recent weeks but the deal failed to materialize due to the Frenchman’s wage demands.
If the transfer does go through, Casemiro will become the Red Devils’ fourth signing of the window after Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, and Christian Eriksen.
What will Casemiro bring to Old Trafford?
Casemiro primarily operates as a defensive midfielder but is also comfortable playing in a more advanced role. His key strengths are his passing and tackling skills, along with his ability to break down opposition attacks with his superb reading of the game.
He played 32 league games last season, registering one goal and three assists. According to WhoScored, he averaged 2.5 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, and 61.3 passes per 90 in LaLiga last term.
