Manchester United transfer round-up: Sancho, Zaniolo, and Umtiti

Manchester United are having their best season in a long time now. They are comfortably second and very close to securing Champions League qualification. The Red Devils are also in the semi-finals of the Europa League. They managed a spectacular 6-2 victory over AS Roma in the first leg of the semi-finals.

Thus it is understandable that transfer news is already steaming out of Old Trafford. The Red Devils are preparing to do business this summer to further strengthen the team. They are still some way for them to challenge Manchester City for the title. However, a few good recruitments can definitely help them to close the gap to their neighbours.

Manchester United-AS Roma swap deal:

The Europa League game between the Red Devils and Italians also presented both the clubs a chance to discuss business with each other. According to Roma News and as cited by Sports Witness, Manchester United are keen on Nicolo Zaniola. The 21-year-old plays as a midfielder for the Giallorossi.

The report has stated that the Red Devils are willing to offer Donny Van de Beek in exchange for the Italian. Zaniola’s stock has fallen this season as he recovers from a ligament injury. However, Roma still rate him very highly and it will be difficult to get a deal done for him.

Manchester United-AS Roma swap deal

According to Transfermarkt, Zaniolo is valued at around $50 million. While Van de Beek is valued at around $39.5 million. However, Zaniola’s is valued at $50 million after his injury, indicating that he has big potential. Thus, the Red Devils will have to pay a premium to bring him to England.

Samuel Umtiti an option for Manchester United:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are very keen to bring in another centre back for next season. Their search has now led them to Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti as per Mundo Depertivo. The Frenchman was considered to be one of the most promising defenders. However, injuries have slowed down his progress.

The Catalans are also keen to sell him because of his wages. The Spanish giants are in need of money to balance their finances. With the potential departure of Umtiti, it will bring in money and reduce their wage bill as well. They also have no issues in letting him go as he has fallen down the pecking order.

This season he has made just 15 appearances in all competitions and he is valued at around $11 million. Though he will be a less expensive option but considering his poor form he is unlikely to challenge Victor Lindelof as Maguire’s partner.

Jadon Sancho Update:

Jadon Sancho Update

Manchester United have been chasing Jadon Sancho for a very long time now. Last summer they did put in a lot of effort but all went in vain. But according to The Express, the Red Devils are ready to reignite their chase for the Dortmund winger.

Ole Gunnar Solskaer’s side were not able to sign him last summer because of Dortmund’s high price tag. However this season his price has lowered as he hasn’t been at his best this season. Not only this, the BVB are under threat of missing out on Champions League football as well.

The Red Devils believe that because of these two reasons they can negotiate for a lower price for him. Manchester United want him to play at the right-wing, they have in search of a right-winger for some time now.

12th Man Opinion:

For the Red Devils fans, they would be happy that they have a chance to sign Sancho. However, they will be skeptical over the Zaniolo deal. He hasn’t played a single minute of football this season. If they swap him for Van de Beek, he might struggle like the Dutchman. As for Umtiti, fans won’t be pleased with these rumours. This is because the Frenchman hasn’t been in a good form and other options are available.
