Arsenal Captain Led From the Front

The Gunners did not have a good start to the game. They lost Swiss international Granit Xhaka in the 16th minute of the game. Fabio Vieira was brought on to replace the veteran midfielder.
Throughout the first half Wolves played really well. they did not let Arsenal top register a single shot on target and kept their defensive shape well. The first half ended with a score of 0-0 and Arsenal were looking frustrated.
However, Fabio Vieira changed the game in the second half. The Portuguese midfielder was found by Gabriel Jesus in a dangerous position. Vieira then took the Wolves’ goalkeeper out with his brilliant pass which left Odegaard open for just a tap-in. The Arsenal captain did the rest and gave the Gunners a 1-0 lead.
Soon after that, Arsenal doubled their lead through their captain. Gabriel Martinelli’s effort was saved by the Wolves’ goalkeeper. But the rebound then fell to an unmarked Odegaard who slammed the ball home to make it 2-0.
From here on it was more about game management for the Gunners. They managed to hold on for the rest of the game and came up with another three points.
After this win Arsenal now have a five-point lead at the top of the table. For the first time since 2007/08, they will remain at the pole position in the Christmas break.
Wolves however have a lot of issues. They are currently in the last position on the table with ten points from fifteen matches. The wolves have netted only eight goals so far.
They signed former Sevilla manager Julen Lopetegui who will take charge from next Monday. But Lopetegui now have a huge task to save them from getting relegated. The World Cup break however comes at the right time as this will give him some time to prepare his side.
