Mata Opens Up About Life Under Mourinho

Manchester United midfielder, Juan Mata publicly mocked at speculations linking him to a move away from the Old Trafford, and persisted that he never had a bad relationship with new Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho.

The Spanish midfielder has been an important part of the Red Devils midfield in the opening months of the campaign after he was rumoured to leave Manchester United after they appointed Jose Mourinho as their manager this summer.

A spirited Mata disclosed speculations that began to spread about his future at the Old Trafford, also speaking about his time with Mourinho at Chelsea.

The Portuguese Mourinho praised the 28-year-old earlier this week, and thinks that Mata has improved as a player since their time together at Chelsea when Mata left the Blues in 2014.

The Manchester United coach revealed that the Spanish midfielder asked for a move away from the Stamford Bridge himself two years ago, and believes that Mata fits into Manchester United’s playing style better than he fitted in Chelsea’s setup.

The former Chelsea player replied to rumours that he avoided eye contact with his manager, Jose Mourinho.

‘My relationship with Mourinho has never been bad,’ the Spanish midfielder said. ‘Many lies were told about me and Mourinho when he arrived at the club this summer.

‘It bothered me that every day I had to read and listen to rumours that weren’t true. With him I’m fine.

‘You read a lot of comments on Facebook and twitter but they just make you laugh.’

The 28-year-old, who also talked about earning his place back into the Spanish national team after a good start in the season, learnt that he was once against omitted from Spain’s World Cup qualifiers squad.

His omission from the squad is regardless of a string of brilliant performances by him for the Red Devils.

‘I really want to lift titles at Manchester United, the Premier League is a trophy I have never won but I believe we can do it with this group,’ Juan Mata concluded.
