Meg Lanning Takes Indefinite Break From Cricket Owing To Personal Reasons

Australia Women’s cricket captain Meg Lanning made the headlines recently after she led her team to a glorious win against India Women in the finals of the Commonwealth Games.

In fact, Australian women’s cricket team had also issued a statement confirming Lanning’s decision to take an indefinite break. The team management stated that cricket team and Cricket Australia backed the decision.

“Effective immediately, Meg Lanning will go on an indefinite leave of absence. Meg has decided to step away from the game for personal reasons, and there is no set return date. CA and our team fully support Meg’s choice and send their best wishes to her,” Australia women’s cricket team said in a statement.

Lanning will not ply her trade for Trent Rockets in the forthcoming edition of The Hundred. However, a decision about her participation in the upcoming domestic summer will be announced soon.

“After a busy couple of years, I have decided to take a step back to enable me to spend time focusing on myself,” Lanning added in a statement. “I appreciate CA’s and my teammates’ assistance and ask that my privacy be respected at this time.”
