Messi disappointed with club over proposed transfer of this player

Messi

Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi has been infuriated with the latest news claiming that Barcelona is willing to let go of his team-mate and good friend Luis Suarez.

There are reports in Spain which claim that the Catalonian club is now looking to offload Suarez in the summer after the Uruguayan has failed to fire on a consistent basis this season. But Argentine superstar Messi believes that the former Liverpool striker is still one of the best finisher’s in the world and wants Barcelona to keep him at the Camp Nou.

However, after a frustrating stalemate against Getafe, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu was left unimpressed by Suarez’ lack of goals and inconsistent performances this term. Bartomeu has reportedly lined up his replacement, as a discussion for Danish 20-year-old Kasper Dolberg from Ajax has begun.

Why Messi Was Furious-Getafe

Messi has developed a good relationship with Suarez since the 31-year-old centre-forward arrived in Spain, but after Brazilian superstar, Neymar left for Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain last summer, Suarez had a rather slow start to the season. This had led to speculation over Suarez’ future at Barcelona, with his attitude and behavior on the pitch coming under critical examination.

But Messi has backed up his mate heavily, claiming that Suarez still has a lot to offer and the club would make a huge mistake, a similar one with Neymar, if they let go of the misfiring attacker. And to back Messi’s statements, Suarez’ recent form has shown considerable improvement, he has scored six times in his last 5 La Liga matches, which may be the light at the end of a tunnel.

Author’s Take-

I believe that Barcelona is blessed to have Suarez as their hit-man at the top, but they definitely need a backup option to play up front. If Barcelona decides to sell Suarez, they will need a world-class striker to fill in the void, but Suarez has yet to score in the Champions League, which may be a cause of concern moving forward this season.
