Barcelona’s quest for Neymar continues

There hasn’t been any doubt regarding Barcelona’s intentions to bring their former star forward Neymar Jr. back from PSG. The Brazilian has also spared no pains in forcing a move to the Camp Nou. Despite all efforts from both the parties, including special involvement from Lionel Messi, things haven’t turned out to be fruitful for them as PSG are looking to keep Neymar at the Parc des Princes.

Since the world record transfer, multiple attempts have been made by the Spanish champions to approach PSG for the transfer. But most of the time, they have failed to meet the price demands of the French outfit. Thomas Tuchel has been handling the situation cautiously as his other prolific attacker Kylian Mbappe is being chased by the Los Blancos.

Barcelona has been struggling this season even after spending a lot of money in the past few transfer windows. The sacking of Ernesto Valverde hasn’t helped much as injuries have halted their progress in the domestic competitions. According to the rumours, the club will go all-in for Neymar in the summer.

The influence of Messi on Barcelona’s transfer strategy

It was earlier reported that Neymar personally asked Messi to help him complete the transfer. But the lack of funds at the Spanish club became the reason for the failure of this attempt.

The Sin Concesiones Radio has just released former Barca president Jordi Mestre’s interview where he talks about Messi’s involvement in the club’s transfer business.

“Messi is consulted as the captain he is. But as with Xavi, Puyol or Iniesta at the time, he does not decide yes or no.”

Regarding Neymar’s transfer saga, Mestre said: “Messi would have loved the return of Neymar.”

There’s a sharp contrast in the current situation of the two clubs. PSG is enjoying a healthy lead at the top of Ligue 1. On the other hand, Barcelona is struggling to win games. They are currently three points adrift of the Los Blancos who are currently the table-toppers in the Spanish top flight.

PSG will face Borussia Dortmund and are expected to overcome the challenge from the German club easily. Whereas Quique Setien’s Barcelona might struggle against Napoli in the absence of their esteemed forwards Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele.
