Marco Veratti has been one of the best midfielders of the past few seasons. The diminutive midfielder is an engine in the middle of the park for Qatari backed PSG side. His presence along with Rabiot sets the foundation for the likes of Neymar, Cavani, and Mbappe to do their magic in front of goal.
Marco Veratti almost joined the Catalan side last summer. Both Barcelona and Veratti were keen on the move, but in the end, Veratti seemed to pull out of the deal at the very last minute. This, in turn, led to the Neymar fiasco as the PSG board were enraged at Barcelona for trying to get their player without their consent.
The Catalan side has had busy windows this year. Signings of Dembele and Coutinho, with Messi’s new bumper contract amounting to a colossal 350 million pounds. Despite this, reports suggest that another busy window is to follow. A move for Arthur Melo has already been put in place for January of 2019.
Age is catching up to Iniesta and a world class player will be needed to fill in those boots. Spanish media outlet Dario Gol claim that Messi will not have Veratti at Barcelona.
By the look of it, Messi was incensed at Veratti for publically wanting a move to Barcelona and then backing out of it. An offer from a club like Barcelona is a once in a lifetime opportunity for a lot of players and Veratti seems to have blown his.
There is no denying the power Messi has at Barcelona. The club’s all-time leading goal scorer has special privileges at the club and having a say in the club’s major transfers seems to be one of them.
If this report is to be believed, Veratti will have to look for other destinations, if he indeed wants to leave PSG. Real Madrid might pounce at the chance of signing the little Italian, with a squad overhaul of their own on the cards.
If Veratti does indeed want to leave, he’d rue missing out on the chance of playing with arguably the greatest player of all time.
