Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater says that he feels hard done by after losing out to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
It was the first time, the Englishman came to Manchester in Chelsea colours and he felt that a better result should have been on the cards. ‘We definitely should have got something from the game,’ he said. ‘In the first half we were very dominant. In the second half it was a bit different, it was more even, but we didn’t deserve to lose that game, no chance.’
The result puts the Blues in a really tight spot as Tottenham snatched three points against Crystal Palace to knock them out of the top four. Drinkwater and his partner, N’Golo Kante put in really good shifts for a result that they ultimately did not get.
‘I don’t know the stats but the first half felt good. Their goal came out of nowhere. We had a bit of confidence coming into the second half, but it didn’t go our way. It was more of a battle which suited them and took the game away from us. All the boys in the dressing room are bitterly disappointed.’
Author’s take
If you have to be a Champions’ League regular, you have to be a professional. Drinkwater and his mates will have to take the loss on their chins and go forward for the next 10 games and keep going as far as possible in the Champions’ League. The future of Conte and the antics of some stars may still be in doubt but no nonsense guys like Drinkwater, Azpiliquaeta and Cahill will have to be up to the task and lead the cahrge in this situation.
