Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta shares his opinion on the Mesut Ozil situation at the Emirates. After Arsenal has spent half of the 2020-21 campaign without Ozil being part of the squad. The former Germany international has been excluded since the start of the season from both the Premier League and Europa league squad.
After struggling throughout the season so far following their deafening start in the League. Arteta as well as Edu Gaspar has revealed the need to bring in the midfielder and an attacker in the January transfer window. Thus Arsenal is in the transfer market for a new midfielder.
The Gunners is linked with a number of attacking midfielders for the winter move and several names have been added to the list. Real Madrid star Isco, Barcelona youngster Riqui Puig, Norwich City’s Emiliano Buendia, and Borussia Dortmund Julian Brandt are all rumored targets linked with a winter move to North London outfit.
One can also conclude that Arsenal has lost the creativity in the midfield after Ozil’s omission from the squad and Arsenal’s failure to sign a new midfielder in the last window. Even though Arsenal was heavily linked with a move for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar. But the move failed to happen after Arsenal was not able to match the price tag given by the French outfit.

Bringing up the German midfielder issue who once ruled the Arsenal squad. Mikel Arteta claimed that he will monitor the 32-year-old situation at the end of the transfer window. As Arsenal is in the transfer market for a new midfielder. After Ozil was ostracized from both the squads and Arteta gave the footballing reasons when asked about his omission.
Ozil ruled out Arsenal offer for a loan move

Ozil remained the highest-earning player in the Arsenal squad despite spending his time in the stands and contributing nothing. It is not that Arsenal never tried to offload him in the past couple of months. However, it was Mesut Ozil who insisted that he’s happy at the club and he wants to see out his £350,000-a-week contract at Arsenal.
Ozil was once at the highest point of his career under Arsene Wenger because of all the creativity he posses. He was resigned in 2018 and it was during that time that he became the highest-paid player in the club’s history. The German became the first player to register 50 assists in the Premier League. The lack of creativity from the squad has also led fans to insist on Arteta for his inclusion in the squad.
In spite of everything Arteta didn’t budge from his opinion and admitted that he will look after the situation once Arsenal will complete the transferred business. Till then Arsenal would deal with the players whose contract will expire in the coming few months.
Arteta said that it is important to respect the decision made by players. What a manager can do is to open to them and tell them the intentions and their role in the squad. Some would leave the club while others might stay. In the end, it’s the decision of players and nobody else can decide it.
The names include Sokratis, David Luiz, and Shkodran Mustafi all set to depart in January or either in summer. Arteta also admitted that there is a need to offload a few positions where the limit of players has exceeded. Thus there will be players who would also leave on loan including William Saliba.
Sokratis was destined to join Napoli on loan but the loan move was dropped after Kalidou Koulibaly turned out the move to Manchester City. Whereas in the case of Ozil, he ruled out the chance to leave Arsenal even after Arsenal assured of covering 50 percent of his salary if he chooses a loan move.
