Arsenal’s Spanish gaffer Mikel Arteta has slammed down all rumours suggesting he will be the next head coach of La Liga giants Barcelona.
After a poor last season, Catalan giants Barcelona made quite a few signings to strengthen their squad. Players like Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie, Hector Bellerin and Marcos Alonso joined the Blaugrana in the summer transfer window.
The summer signings soon adapted to their new club and Barcelona made a great start to their Lasa Liga season. The Catalan giants won ten out of their first twelve matches. With thirty-one points, they are currently in the second position in the table.
However, their performance in the UEFA Champions League has been quite opposite. After winning the first match, Barcelona were defeated in three out of their next four matches. As a result, they were knocked out of the group stage.
Arteta responded to Barcelona rumours

With their back-to-back demotion to Europa League, it was reported that Xavi’s job is currently in danger. Another report suggested that Arsenal gaffer Mikel Arteta is the leading candidate for the Barcelona job at this moment.
Arteta a former La Masia graduate knows everything about the culture in Barcelona. He has worked under Manchester City and is currently doing a fantastic job at Arsenal.
Under the Spaniard, Arsenal have got a great start to their season. the Gunners won ten out of their twelve matches. They have gathered thirty-one points from these twelve matches and are at the top of the English Premier league.
And now finally, Arteta has turned down all the Barcelona rumours. Speaking before the Zurich match, Arteta said, “I’m extremely happy. I’m proud to be where I am.”
“I think that Barca are on a very good path. They have a phenomenal coach, a coach who has been an absolute legend at the club and he has lifted them up. You have to be very respectful with that,” he further added.
Similar to Arteta’s response, Barcelona’s board also have kept their faith in their club legend. They are well in the race for La Liga and have kept a huge pressure on the Los Blancos. Barcelona management are also looking to strengthen their team in the next window.
Barcelona gaffer Xavi however admitted that if he could not deliver results he will have to be replaced sooner or later. But as he has faith in the Barcelona board he will continue working on the long-term project of the club.
The Catalan giants will now play UD Almeria in their next match.
