Arsenal fans may be disappointed with recent budget news. Arsenal are looking to sign an attacking midfielder.
Arsenal has been anything but exciting this season. It has been a stale start for the club and they haven’t been able to build upon last season’s momentum. After Arteta’s valiant effort last season the fans expected more from the club.
But this is how it often goes in the Premier League. Although Arsenal are still trying to turn things around. The Gunners have stacked up 3 big victories in the Premier League. They were also impressive in the league cup tie against Newcastle.
The club are at the 11th position in the Premier League. However, the margins are pretty close as there are many clubs with the same number of points and a few victories could spring Arsenal close to the top four.
Arsenal needs a creative midfielder in their squad. Fans were hoping that the January Window would see a quality addition to the team. But that probably will not be possible now.
Arsenal has a very restricted budget to work with and big money signings like Houssem Aouar would probably be out of the window now. The club will have to depend on funds from the sale of existing players. Arsenal too are looking to offload some players.
Mesut Ozil is bound to leave at some point with Fenerbache the favorites. Sokratis too is on the transfer list. But these will not provide any substantial amount to the club except freeing up space for wages.
Arsenal have a budget of €20m to work with
Signing an attacking midfielder looks like a priority for Arsenal. However, with this revelation, the club will have very little room to work with. They will have to look for a quality player who can add a spark to the team.
“Arsenal, their priority in this window in midfield has been a creative midfielder,” Castles said on the Transfer Window podcast. “Basically someone who is a cross between a No 8 and a No 10, so a box-to-box midfielder with creativity and pass creation skills.
“I’m told they’re working on a very limited budget to do that of about €20m.”So you want a player who would take a fundamental role in the team and change the midfield in an important way but you’re trying to do it at a price that is going to be very difficult to achieve.”
Emanuel Buendia is a target for the Gunners along with Bissouma. However, Bissouma does not fit in the attacking midfielder role which is why Buendia would be a better option for the club. Buendia has Premier League experience with Norwich City.
Last season he was a key player for the Canaries. He played in almost every Premier League game and had 1 goal and 7 assists in his name. Although the numbers are not too impressive, there is a chance Buendia can perform better with a big club.
His valuation is close to $15 million and at just 24 years old he certainly has the potential to grow. Arsenal too needs something to kick start their reason. It will be quite interesting to see whether the club is willing to take the risk.
