MLS tournament has reached its Quarterfinal stage.
Live-action Sport is finally back after months of waiting and it has kicked off on a high. MLS is Back Tournament kicked off on the 9th of July 2020 with Traditional 26 teams competing for it. This means that MLS betting is live as well.
All 26 teams are slotted in six groups and will battle it out in a round-robin fashion for the Cup. However, Nashville FC found a route to the Eastern Conference for the remainder of the season so that the league gains balance.
Moreover, three groups belong to the Eastern Conference and three groups belong to the Western Conference. Making a total of six groups named A, B, C, D, E and F; group A will have six teams while other groups will have four teams.
Tournament So Far
Group stages are done and dusted and we are heading into later stages of knockouts. 8 teams have reached the quarter-final stage and they are ready to battle it out to reach the semis.
Quarter Final rounds will start on 31st July and we have some great matchups for it. Philadelphia Union and Sporting Kansas City will fight to be the 1st semi-finalist of the tournament. On 1st August Orlando City SC and Los Angeles FC will battle to become the 2nd semi-finalist.
We will get to know our remaining semi-finalists after 2 matches conclude on 2nd August. The 3rd semi-finalist will be between San Jose Earthquakes or Minnesota United FC. The 4th quarter-final will take place between New York City FC and Portland Timbers and then we will have our 4th team in the next round.
Top Players of MLS is back Tournament So Far
Diego Rossi of Los Angeles FC is flying away with 8 goals in his bag and leading the way for his team. The winger scored twice in the round of 16 to make sure his team is progressing without any worries. Moreover, he took everyone by surprise when he scored 4 goals against LA Galaxy in the group stage.
Alejandro Pozuelo is currently leading the assist chart with 5 assists in this tournament but Toronto FC went out in the round of 16. However, just behind him, Alan Pulido is 2nd in the assist charts and his team is still in this tournament. Sporting Kansas City’s forward has 4 assists to his name in the tournament.
Now let’s look at the Goalkeepers who have performed for their teams. Andre Blake is leading the line for most saves per game. He is averaging 5.3 saves per game followed by Thomas Hasal with 4.3 saves per game. Moreover, Despite Przemyslaw Tyton’s brilliant performance, FC Cincinnati failed to reach the quarter-final stage. He averages 4.0 saves per game.
Who can go on to win the Tournament?
This crunch tournament will come to an end soon but who are the favorites to win the competition. We think Los Angeles FC is the first favorites to win the tournament because of their top form and capability to run riot against teams.
In addition to that, Sporting Kansas City also has a very good chance to clinch the tournament due to its good overall defensive performance. Moreover, they have a very reliable striker in the form of Alan Pulido who is a big threat.
