India fast bowler Mohammed Shami might face the heat once again for the off-field reasons. The pace bowler was all over the news last year when his estranged wife Hasin Jahan had accused him of having extra-marital affairs with several women. The cricketer’s wife posted several screenshots on social media to back her claims. Shami had faced huge criticism from all around but had managed to come out clean from the entire episode. However, he has done little to help his reputation by allegedly sending a message to a random lady while being on the World Cup duty.
Shami wished the lady who is definitely stranger to him good afternoon in her inbox on Instagram. The lady, who goes by the name Sophia did not take long to realise that the message was from a famous man. She immediately posted a screenshot of the same while also expressing confusion over why would a popular player keep messaging her. “anyone wanna tell me why some random cricket player with 1.4m followers keep messaging me,” Sophia wrote, clearly struggling to come to terms with the messages from Shami.
Here is a screenshot of the tweet:
The screenshot soon went viral and unsurprisingly Shami has become the butt of all jokes. The Indian team management would be hoping that the incident does not distract Shami or any other player at the moment as India gear up to face New Zealand in the semifinal on Tuesday. The winner will play the winner of the England-Australia semifinal in the final at Lords on Sunday. Shami, who was rested for the previous match against Sri Lanka, is likely to return to the playing eleven against New Zealand having picked up 14 wickets from just 4 matches in the tournament so far.
