Djibril Sidibe, toffees new signing to rival Republic of Ireland captain at the centre back.
Djibril Sidibe former Monaco’s right back has signed a contract with the Toffees for a season long loan deal.
The Frenchman had made his debut last month for Marco Silva’s side against Lincoln city in the Carabao Cup. The player is expected to make his first appearance for the league for the third round tie at Sheffield.
Sidibe is said to compete with Seamus Coleman for the centre back position. As per as the manager he is known to push Coleman to get his place at the Everton.
The Frenchman arrived at the Goodison Park in the final week of transfer window along with five other new arrivals following goalkeeper Jonas Lossl, midfielders Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph and Jean-Philippe Gbamin, and striker Moise Kean.
Marco Silva is happy to have two right-backs with different qualities in his squad. He said that the first choice right-back Seamus Coleman is pretty much aware about the competition for his position and is taking the things down slowly.
“He is pushing, he is pushing. You are talking about an experienced player. He didn’t do the pre-season with us but he is the type of player who you don’t have doubts about his quality. He’s been champion of the world, he has played at a high, high level in the Champions League, all these things.
“If you can see him playing in some games in pre-season then it is a little bit different but he is pushing, he is pushing. He always comes here to work hard and get his space in the team. Seamus knows he has a player there trying to get his place in the starting XI, trying to get his place, so it is good for us.
He further added,
“He is a World Cup winner and he has the hunger to achieve much more in his career. Djibril has also shown to me he has a real desire to play for Everton and be part of the big things we are trying to create.
Djibril is a strong defender, which is the most important thing to play in our backline. He also has the capacity to attack, crossing and linking with his team-mates. He showed with many assists at Monaco how he can help his team at both ends of the pitch.”
Djibril Sidibe has contributed towards scoring many goals and was an integral part of the club. He can be of great assistance to his club at both ends of the pitch. Along with this, Blues have never lost when Seamus scored. We can expect a healthy rivalry between them and Seamus being an experienced Everton right back and Sidibe together can take the club to another height.
