XENEX Motorsports: The Mazda MX-5 Miata is one of the most beloved sports cars of all time, and for good reason. It’s affordable, reliable, and offers a pure driving experience that harkens back to the roadsters of the past.
But for some, the Miata’s design can feel a bit too conservative. Enter the MX Speedster from XENEX Motorsports. This re-body kit takes the Miata and turns it into a wild, Le Mans-style machine that is sure to turn heads.
The MX Speedster re-body kit is more than just a new set of bumpers and side sills. It’s a complete conversion that includes air diffusers, new camshafts, exhaust systems, suspension components, and a Wilwood big brake kit, among many others.
The kit is designed to work with the Miata’s 1.6-liter or 1.8-liter NA-generation engines, but XENEX says it is “engine agnostic” and can accept any engine that can fit into the NA-generation Miata.
The Striking Feature
One of the most striking features of the MX Speedster is its design. The kit includes a new front bumper, side sills, and rear diffuser that give the car a much more aggressive stance.
The fenders have been widened to accommodate the deep-dish wheels, and the rear of the car has been completely redesigned to give it a more dramatic look. The MX Speedster also features a custom tonneau cover that replaces the Miata’s roof, giving the car an even more open, airy feel.
In terms of performance, the MX Speedster offers a significant upgrade over the stock Miata. The entry-level MX Speedster has basic tuning done to the Miata’s 1.6-liter or 1.8-liter NA-generation engines.

Upgrading to a spicier MX Speedster S will gain a Fastforward Superchargers kit, good for a total of 200 horsepower. The Speedster RS will convert the powerplant to a 350-horsepower LS V8—in a car weighing less than one ton. This makes the MX Speedster one of the most powerful cars in its class.
What Does Xenex Say?
Inside, the MX Speedster features custom interior trimmings like seat covers, luggage sets, and that all-important tonneau cover since it has no roof. The interior has been completely redesigned to give it a more sporty, driver-focused feel. The MX Speedster also features a unique instrument cluster that is inspired by the gauges found in Le Mans-style race cars.
As for the installation process, XENEX will provide each customer with a video tutorial that will take them step-by-step through the installation process. The company is also available by email or telephone, but others can do it for the less mechanically inclined. The company says a “body shop is recommended”, which takes “about a day”.
XENEX says that re-body kit prices will be posted to their “soon-to-be-updated website” in February 2023. The company is slightly vague on when they will begin taking orders as it lists February 1st and March 1st. Regardless, it asserts that “delivery time is expected to be 45-90 days” for early 2023 orders after a 30 percent customer deposit.
The MX Speedster from XENEX Motorsports is a must-have for any Miata owner looking to give their car a more aggressive, Le Mans-inspired look. With its wide fenders, deep-dish wheels, and powerful engine options, the MX Speedster is sure to turn heads on the
