PSG experienced right back clearly stated the desire to stay with the club.
Thomas Meunier an ultimate right back playing for the Ligue 1 club PSG break his silence over Gunners speculation and says he wants to stay at the club.
Paris Saint Germain signed Thomas Meunier on third July 2016 for around seven million Euros transfer fee. The 27-year old defender has just one year left with him as per his four-year contract with Ligue1 champions. Both the Premier League side see him as a potential summer signing and a promising right back.
Arsenal wants stronger competition for Hector Bellerin than Stephan Lichtsteiner proved capable of providing last season whereas United’s boss Ole Gunner Solskjaer does not trust Diogo Dalot as his number one right-back yet.
But both the teams are suggested to look elsewhere for the suitable right back after the statement mentioned by Thomas Meunier on his situation.
The Belgian international speak up about his future in an interview and said.
“I will repeat myself again: my ambition is to stay in Paris. If they want me, that will be even better – we will be hand in hand. If they do not want me, then we will find a solution.”
In recent days the reports have emerged about United £40m bid turned down for Crystal Palace full-back Aaron Wan Bissaka. The Red Devils are also eyeing upon Norwich youngster Max Aarons in case they fail to do a deal with the Eagles.
Arsenal have maybe spotted their main option in PSG right back and will seal the deal between £20m to £25m if they could persuade the player to join the club.
Belgian transfer expert Kristof Terreur told Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast.
Unai Emery has been in touch with him a few times because a right-back is a priority at Arsenal. His agent has also had a meeting with Everton too but there has been nothing concrete so we are just waiting.
PSG want to sell him though for the right price at £20-25 million.”
Meunier’s recent words contradict with what he reportedly said when asked about a move away from PSG last week.
“It’s something that could suit me. I don’t think the club would make a lot of money from me, actually. I have a market value, but I’m a defender, I play one game out of three and I’m turning 28.”
Unai Emery was the one who signed Thomas Meunier from club Brugge while he was at PSG. There is a strong relationship between the two. The right-back was Excellent in the recent world cup and is extremely athletic, powerful full-back who would be able to handle the physicality of the Premier League.
