Napoli Transfer News: Serie A club Napoli failed to sign Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas because of a salary issue between the goalkeeper and Paris Saint-Germain, confirmed Director Giuntoli.
Hailing from the academy of Saprissa, Navas made his senior debut for the Costa Rican club. After his consecutive great performances with the Saprissa, Navas moved to play in Spain and signed for Albacete.
The custodian then made his La Liga debut with Spanish club Levante. Navas’ brilliant performance earned him contracts from many clubs. However, the Costa Rican decided to join La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Upon joining Los Blancos, Navas became one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He won three Champions League, one La Liga and four Club World Cups with the Spanish giants. After spending five years with the Spanish giants, Navas moved to Paris Saint-Germain. He soon became an integral part of the PSG and played another Champions League final.
Napoli Transfer News: Giuntoli speaks further on the Navas deal

Napoli Director Giuntoli has admitted that they failed to complete the transfer of Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas because of a salary issue between PSG and Navas.
According to the Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Giuntoli said, “Keylor Navas deal collapsed because there was no agreement between PSG and player’s camp on the salary: he’s on €15m gross wages per season”.
With Gianluigi Donarumma’s arrival ahead of the last season, Keylor Navas lost his confirmed spot in the starting lineup. This season it became worse when Galtier clearly mentioned Navas as his second-choice goalkeeper in the press conference.
Navas feared that he will lose valuable game time ahead of the Qatar World Cup. So he tried to move out from PSG and Napoli was the most interested team in the 35-year-old custodian. However, the deal never materialised.
Earlier Napoli director Giuntoli spoke about this issue but didn’t reveal the real cause. Now he has finally revealed it.
Speaking more into this matter, Giuntoli admitted that not everything is over and the Italian club will once again try to sign the goalkeeper in the January transfer window.
