NBA rank is back for its 12th season of ranking the league’s top players. Where are Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, Joel Embiid, and Nikola Jokic, who are all MVP contenders? What about rising stars and rookies poised to advance to the top tier of NBA players?

We asked our expert panel to vote on player pairings in order to determine the NBArank forecast, such as LeBron James vs. Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry vs. Ja Morant, Luka vs. Jayson Tatum, and so forth.

Who will be the superior player in 2022–2023, we wondered? Voters had to say what they thought would happen with each player during the season. Players numbered 100–26, 25–11, and an unexpected No. 10–6 have already been revealed. Our league’s top five superstars make up today’s final spot in our rankings.

If a Finals MVP was the piece of hardware lacking from Curry’s case for being one of the all-time greats, that’s been taken care of, as Steph led the Warriors to their fourth title in six years en route to winning the rare honour. As he enters training camp, sources tell ESPN that Curry appears to be in good shape and ready to continue where he left off.

Curry’s situation is the same as it was at the beginning of the previous campaign. Ailment forced him to miss the final month of the regular season. His teammates filled in for him and kept the Warriors in the game to clinch the No. 3 seed in the West. He may be in the same position in our rankings because of that, along with the ascent of the MVP candidates below, or a combination of both.

4. Joel Embiid

After two consecutive tight second-place finishes in the MVP voting behind Jokic, Embiid is once again the favorite to win the prize as the focal point of what is expected to be one of the league’s top teams.

The first center to lead the league in scoring since Shaquille O’Neal in 1999-2000 and the first to average at least 30 points per game throughout an entire season since Moses Malone in 1981-82, Joel Embiid was dominant last season, leading the league in scoring with an average of 30.6 points per game.

3. luka Doncic

Doncic should arrive at training camp in top form after spending the offseason playing a key role for the Slovenian national team, which will be the first time in a few years. When fitness is not an issue, Doncic is one of the NBA’s most powerful players.

At the age of 23, Doncic has established his status as one of the top superstars, a regular All-NBA pick, and an MVP contender. When he was the only All-Star on a Dallas team that advanced to the Western Conference finals last season, he solidified that reputation.

According to Elias Sports Bureau, Doncic led Dallas in points, rebounds, and assists 10 times during the playoffs despite missing the opening three games of the first round due to a calf issue.

2. Nikola Jokic

The Nuggets were no match for Golden State in the first round, despite Jokic’s averages of 31.0 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 5.8 assists. Denver, led by its two-time defending MVP, wants to be back in the mix this season with the return of Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr.

How did Jokic build on an MVP campaign? He recovered. Only 13 players in NBA history have won back-to-back MVP awards, and Jokic became the first to do so with a historic performance. He leads his team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and field goal percentage. He is the first player to average 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists throughout the course of an entire season.

The greatest PER (32.8) in a season in NBA history helped Jokic defeat Embiid for MVP. Despite Murray and Porter Jr. not playing, Jokic recorded 19 triple-doubles, the most by a centre since Wilt Chamberlain, and helped Denver win one more game than the previous year.

1. Giannis Antetokounmpo

Antetokounmpo already ranks among the most decorated winners in league history as he begins his season at age 28 thanks to his long record of honours. So, the question of how he will add to that list still stands. Could he earn a third NBA MVP? The Bucks will be among the favourites to win another NBA title, but can Antetokounmpo win another MVP award for the Finals? Every season, there are huge expectations, but Antetokounmpo often outperforms them.

Since last year, Antetokounmpo’s claim to be the best player in the world has only grown stronger because of his unwavering dependability and nightly dominance. His effect on both ends of the court is arguably unmatched by any other player in the league.
