Damian Lillard represents the very last member of an NBA that is becoming extinct very quickly. He is one of the very few players still active in the NBA who has been with the same team for the past ten years, making him unique in that regard. Lillard has often shot down rumors that he is interested in playing for a team other than the Portland Trail Blazers.
Despite the fact that his name keeps cropping up in trade rumors, he is uninterested in moving on from the one and only squad he has ever played for. He is not of the opinion that moving teams around in order to win a championship is the most effective strategy.
According to Damian Lillard, he is sceptical about his ability to continue playing for an extended amount of time since “he doesn’t love what the NBA as a whole is becoming.” He made this statement in a recent interview.
Damian Lillard was explaining how, in his opinion, the only factor that should be considered when judging the brilliance of a player is the number of championships that they have won.

Damian Lillard Disclosed That He Plays Basketball for the Sheer Enjoyment of the Sport

On a recent episode of JJ Redick’s podcast, Damian Lillard disclosed that he plays basketball for the sheer enjoyment of the sport. “I have a strong drive to compete. I’m intrigued to learn more about the experience of coming out on top. I want everyone on my team to be successful. Although I want to see to it that my fellow soldiers get reimbursed.
“In spite of the fact that I am aware that we are all competing to win championships, we just cannot continue to act as though there is nothing at risk. The travel, much like the rest of the stuff, is completely inconsequential. We are unable to proceed in such a manner. Because I don’t like what the NBA has become as a whole, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to continue playing for a very long time if it keeps going the way it is.
Damian Lillard has likely taken a pay cut as a result of his decision to remain with the Blazers. Dame’s opponents in the first round have been swept on two separate occasions.
During an episode of the Basketball Forever Podcast, creator Alex Sumsky stated, “He was receiving all of the accolades for being loyal and everything else, and then he complains because players are measured by championships.”
I think you could get away with that for a little while, maybe at the beginning of your job… On that hill, though, it is impossible to get around. You can’t keep saying that statement indefinitely, can you?
