Jalen Rose is aware of the difficulties and disadvantages associated with becoming a well-known basketball player at a young age. Rose felt forced to comment on the most recent Ja Morant scandal. On Saturday morning, a video from the Grizzlies player’s Instagram account appeared to show him holding a pistol.

Only a few days before The Washington Post’s piece, which claimed that Ja Morant had threatened a mall security officer in Memphis and allegedly assaulted a 17-year-old during a pickup basketball game, the video went viral on social media.

Ja Morant was also implicated in a late-January incident with members of the Pacers’ travelling squad. The Athletic was informed by Indiana staff members that they thought “someone in a slow-moving SUV — which Morant was riding in — trained a red laser on them.” The laser, according to a Pacers security member, was “100%” coupled to a gun. Prior to the Bucks and 76ers game on ABC, Rose gave a speech about Morant’s previous actions.

“My name is Ja Morant. Since 1991, you guys have had the opportunity to watch me develop in front of the public,” Rose stated. “I have participated in drug raids. I’ve escaped attempted murder. I used to be that impulsive young person attempting to find out how to become wealthy and renowned and how to alter the dynamics of my family. “The one thing that young people need to realise, and in Ja Morant’s situation, is that when you first get conscripted, you move from being a member of the family and a crew member to being the leader and the breadwinner.”

Rose highlighted that Ja Morant had “far too much to lose” and must make better judgements in his personal life. Rose replied, “Believe me, I’ve been that young player with the gun. Michael Wilbon also hinted at this. You risk being killed if you begin waving it.

Jalen Rose:

“That’s him in the video, on his Instagram Live, as Stephen A. Smith noted. No one is pressuring him. Nobody is encouraging him to take such action. That is a matter of preference. Guys, as I already indicated, fame frequently acts as a narcotic. I don’t know what kind of pain he experiences, what kind of anxiety he experiences, or what kind of drugs he might be consuming.”

On Saturday, Ja Morant apologised and claimed “complete responsibility for his acts.” Morant announced that he would “take some time away to obtain therapy and concentrate on developing new methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being,” he said in his statement.

Ja Morant will be “absent from the team for at least the next two games,” according to a separate statement from the Memphis Grizzlies. Rose stated, “Nobody was hurt. I’m hearing much too many gun-related rumors right now, OK, concerning the 17-year-old boy and the Indiana Pacers staff last night on Instagram Live. Like you people, I saw the video of Morant showing the gun.

“Recovery is the next phase, and I think he’s headed in that direction. I’m glad he’s headed in that direction. He’ll come back, and he’ll have changed for the better. And now that everything has happened, he will be able to realise his full potential.”
