During the Boston Celtics’ 109-94 defeat to the New York Knicks, Jayson Tatum blasted the umpires for failing to call an obvious foul by Julius on him. Tatum tried to make a 3-point shot, but Randle looked to smack his wrist. The 2023 All-Star Game MVP vented his anger on Twitter after Monday’s game.
Tatum was referencing his flagrant foul on LeBron James on January 28th, during the Celtics’ 125-121 overtime victory against the LA Lakers at home. If Tatum’s foul hadn’t been missed by the officials, James may have given his side the victory on the last shot.
“Lol this what I get for fouling Bron,” Tatum tweeted in response to a video of Randle’s foul. On the final possession, with the score knotted at 105-105, Los Angeles Lakers best player drove to the hoop. However, his shot was off-target when Tatum smacked him on his shooting arm. The game had to go into overtime because the officials failed to call a foul on Tatum.
This time, Jayson Tatum was the victim of a contentious no-call. Because of a missed call against LeBron James that went in his favor. He thought the officials disregarded Julius Randle’s foul on him.

First career ejection for Jayson Tatum vs Knicks

The Boston Celtics’ game against the New York Knicks was difficult for Jayson Tatum and the team. Tatum continued to struggle from the field, making only 6-of-18 shots while scoring 14 points for his side. With 3:46 remaining in the fourth quarter, after 36 minutes of play, he was dismissed.
Tatum continued to nag the officials about the Julius Randle no-call. By the conclusion of the third quarter, he used his first technical penalty to dispute with referee Derek Richardson after a slam attempt in which Tatum felt he had been fouled.
After incurring his second technical foul of the game in the fourth quarter, Tatum made caustic remarks against referee Joe Derosa before being removed. The Boston Celtics forward stated the following the contest (via NBC Sports):
“I just said to them that this was most likely the best-officiated game I’ve ever witnessed. They didn’t take well to the compliment I sought to give them.”
Throughout his previous two games, Jayson Tatum has made three free throw attempts. He must have been thinking about the free-throw disadvantage he had over his competitors. Jayson Tatum averaged 9.4 free throw attempts per game in January, but that figure has since fallen to 7.1.
