Over the past several days, Shaquille O’Neal and Dwight Howard’s feud has flared up again. Shaq recently disparaged Howard’s outstanding play in Taiwan with the Taoyuan Leopards.
Even further, the Hall of Famer claimed that the league Howard is playing in makes him think of “the Lifetime Fitness” league. “D12” took exception to Shaq’s remarks and went off on Instagram live.
“Don’t treat my teammates, this league, and these Taiwanese people disrespectfully. You’re too old to be hating, and it is both extremely disrespectful and hateful. You are too powerful to be angry.”
“You’re meant to be Shaquille O’Neal, the first Superman. Is the first Superman hating? The original Superman is despised?”
Dwight Howard sought a contract extension with the LA Lakers for this season but was not given one. He ultimately made the decision to transfer his skills to Taiwan since he still had a strong desire to play. Since his arrival, Howard has been nothing short of a rock star.
In his first game with the Leopards in the Taiwan League, Howard wreaked havoc on the opposition. With 38 points, 25 rebounds, nine assists, and four blocks to start his season, the former three-time defensive player of the year. He behaved as though he were a cheat that no one could crack.
However, Shaquille O’Neal wasn’t in the least bit impressed when Howard’s record-breaking game in Taiwan went viral. Given the level of competitiveness in that league, he discounted the statistics as what was to be expected.
Shaquille O’Neal received criticism from Dwight Howard for labeling Kyrie Irving an “idiot”
In addition to criticizing the “disrespect,” Howard brought up Shaquille O’Neal’s dispute with JaVale McGee. Shaq and the Golden State Warriors center at the time got into a nasty public fight in 2017. McGee objected to Shaqtin’ A Fool’s relentless ridicule of him as a renowned Laker icon.
Dwight Howard continued to use JaVale McGee as an example of Shaquille O’Neal’s animosity toward individuals after that. He also brought up O’Neal’s criticism of Irving for providing a link to a movie containing anti-Semitic accusations, calling Irving an “idiot.”
O’Neal recently explained his characterization of himself as an “idiot,” but he also emphasized that he couldn’t give a damn what people thought of him.
Dwight Howard responded to Shaquille O’Neal’s criticism of Kyrie Irving as follows: “Why does he talk about individuals on TV, podcasts, and other media? He recently did it to Kyrie! You know Kyrie is a moron because he said something, right?”
With Dwight Howard in particular, Shaquille O’Neal has never been one to back down from a battle. After their current back-and-forth, they will probably continue their quarrel, as they have in the past.
