According to the most recent sources, Reggie Jackson will start as point guard for the LA Clippers instead of the recent offseason signing John Wall.
These reports appear to provide an answer to one of the most important mysteries surrounding the Clippers heading into the 2022–23 NBA season. Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports was the first to break the news of these reports coming out of Los Angeles.
Five-time All-Star Wall has impressive credentials and had a terrific preseason with his new squad. Jackson’s consistency with the Clippers and Wall’s impossibility of playing back-to-back games to start the year. Though it may have contributed to the former receiving the nod.
John Wall had a healthy offseason. He didn’t want to play a smaller role for the struggling Houston Rockets. So, he sat out the whole previous season. The past two seasons saw injuries for the former Washington Wizards standout.

Given that Wall has played in just 40 games over the previous three seasons, it makes sense for the LA Clippers to allow him some time to settle in. Over the past several seasons, Reggie Jackson and their starting lineup have worked effectively together.
Marcus Morris, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Ivica Zubac are set to round out the remainder of the starting lineup.
John Wall fits in perfectly as a reserve player for the LA Clippers’ youthful studs
For the LA Clippers throughout the preseason, John Wall appeared to be in good form. Wall only played 14.5 minutes per game, but throughout three games, including one start, he averaged 11.0 points and 3.3 assists. He had a field-goal percentage of 47.4% and a three-point percentage of 40.0%.
Wall demonstrated that he still possesses the speed and athleticism for which he was famed. Because of this, he may go great with the Clippers’ second unit, which has a lot of younger guys. His seasoned presence off the bench enables LA to further use their depth.
Wall will also be able to establish a better rhythm as the season goes on thanks to this change. He might not start, but if he performs well once the regular season begins, he might be included in closing lineups.
Wall has gotten along well with the starters and is adaptable enough to play in a variety of lineups. It could be advantageous for the LA Clippers to have him available as the third option in late-game circumstances behind Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
The Clippers have a chance to dethrone the Golden State Warriors, the reigning champs. This Clippers club will be one to watch in the 2023 title race if Wall, Leonard, and George stay healthy.
