The Toronto Raptors have apologized for a video on Women’s History Month that they shared on social media. When the outrage provoked, the video got removed. Toronto Raptors is then trying to move past the incident.
Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn were both featured in the Women’s History Month video. The problem was that they both received cheesy lines resulted in cringe-worthy video. In the video, team members can be heard praising women. They also claimed that they are the only ones who can bear children. The Raptors organization made an effort to honor the ladies. However, things went wrong when they mishandled their message and received criticism.
NBA audience criticized it as disrespectful and inappropriate. This prompted their social media staff to remove it. The fact that it suggests that women solely exist to reproduce is a major factor. This is also the reason why it sent the wrong message.
“Our sincerest apologies to our players, our staff, and our fans — we’ll work to do better today and every day after.” Toronto Raptors posted.
The sole problem aligns with the written script of the video. Raptors’ attempt to recognize women flopped and in an unimaginable scenario. Those who approved this video failed to consider how other people could interpret it differently. Coming back to the video, it is very obvious that what Flynn and Achiuwa are saying can be harsh and unforgiving.
