Olivier Giroud has revealed that Chelsea will be the ‘perfect club’ for him as he is ready to take on new challenges.
The Frenchman made the switch from London rivals Arsenal on a deadline day move as the Gunners had to make way for club record signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. An £18 million deal secured Giroud’s move to Stamford Bridge after falling down the pecking order at Arsenal.
Giroud made his first start for Chelsea in a 3-0 win against West Bromwich Albion on Monday and claimed an assist for the opening goal after linking up well with Eden Hazard. He was impressive and led the front line well as a centre-forward bringing his teammates into the game till he was subbed off at the hour mark.
The 31-year-old target man then stated that he was in dire need of a new challenge after five seasons at the Emirates Stadium and will now be hoping for more game time more frequently under Antonio Conte. Chelsea allowed underwhelming forward Michy Batshuayi leave on loan to Borussia Dortmund as they replaced the Belgian with Giroud.
Giroud Says Chelsea are Perfect Match-
The latest Blues’ arrival spoke to ‘The Mirror’ after the West Brom game and said, ‘It’s been a while since I played regularly and that’s why I needed to move. I needed a new challenge and Chelsea was the perfect club for me.
‘It’s the Premier League, a club which has won more titles in the past ten years than any other. It’s a massive club and I am very proud to be here and to carry on my career in the Premier League. I had five amazing years there (Arsenal), but now it’s a new chapter of my career and I am focused 100 per cent on the Blues to reach our targets. I’m very happy to be here.’ He added.
It’s a great match for Chelsea with Olivier Giroud being a tall, strong and commanding footballer, who can hold up the ball for his fast teammates, giving them more space to work with. Giroud can also offload some of the pressure on under-firing striker Alvaro Morata.
