Chelsea star N’Golo Kante has been the best Premier League player in the year 2016 according to Stuart Pearce.
Former Premier League player & manager Stuart Pearce says Chelsea’s success in this season has been due to the presence of N’Golo Kante in the heart of their midfield.
Pearce admits the fact that Chelsea has converted the chances this season with the help of their attacking players. Both Diego Costa and Eden Hazard have bounced back to their form despite their weak performance in last season. But Pearce still believes that Kante is the secret to success for Chelsea in the recent months.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Pearce said “I think he’s been outstanding. Not just last season, this season as well.”
“Sometimes when you move clubs it’s not always easy to settle in straight away.”
Kante moved from Cean to Leicester City in 2015 for a reported fee of £5.6million. Under the management of Claudio Ranieri, Leicester City became the Premier League Champions in the 2015-16 season. It is very clear that Kante played a key role in Leicester City’s Premier League success last season.
During 2016 summer, the Premier League winner moved from Champions Leicester City to Chelsea for a fee of £29.2m. Chelsea boss Antonio Conte signed Kante as a perfect player to control the midfield.
Kante played a vital role in Leicester City’s pursuit of history last season. And now at Chelsea, he might have a chance to add a second Premier League medal. In the year 2016, Kante has scored just one goal and created another two. But there hasn’t been a more influential player in the league.
Stuart Pearce said, “Chelsea have gone from mid-table to the top of the league and I think this fella has got a lot to with that.”
“For Leicester, he was brilliant, for Chelsea he’s been just as good.”
Chelsea is currently at top of the Premier League table with 43 points after 17 games. In addition to that, they are the team to concede the least amount of goals this season. The Blues have scored 35 goals so far this season, but have conceded just 11 goals.
Chelsea will face Bournemouth on Boxing Day at Stamford Bridge, but the table-toppers will miss their two key players. They have lost both Diego Costa and N’Golo Kante due to suspension. Hence they will have to find another solution to extend their record 11 matches winning streak.
