“No agreement with Real Madrid”, reveals club’s Sporting director

Real Madrid will be keen to get their summer transfer business done at the earliest but they are yet to reach an agreement for the purchase of the next superstar.

There has been a lot of talk in the past few days regarding Luka Jovic’s move to Real Madrid. Most of the media outlets have reported that there is an agreement in place for the Serbian to join Los Blancos. The fee is apparently more than €70m. But these rumours have been squashed by Fredi Bobic, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Sporting Director.

“Clubs still talking”

Bobic revealed that there hasn’t been any agreement between the two clubs for the sale of the player, contradictory to speculation. “There’s no agreement right now but it’s true that both clubs are talking. Furthermore, there are many clubs interested in Luka,” he told FOX Sports.

This is the most recent development in the Luka Jovic saga. Bobic had revealed a few days ago that Jovic to Real might be a real possibility.“There’s a real possibility that Jovic signs for Real Madrid. I hope and want him to stay here at Eintracht, but I’m also realistic and know that if a big club like Real Madrid want him then we haven’t got a chance of keeping him.”

Author’s Take

Luka Jovic is the epitome of a modern-day No.9. The 21-year-old has many facets in his armoury. He can run the channels, act as a creator and, of course, is a super-reliable finisher. Jovic is an absolute assassin in the box, finishing off chances at will. The former Benfica man takes as many as 86% of his chances from inside the box, which is a testament to his poaching abilities.

Some have suggested that Jovic is a combination of Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero. And a combined xG and xA of 0.9 per 90 mins for the last couple of season only enhances his credibility. This only question mark over the Serb is if he can hand the step up from Commerzbank-Arena to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid have created more chances than Barcelona this season. But an underperforming forward line has been to their detriment. If the Royal Whites manage to bring in Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard, the Bernabeu is sure to witness some fireworks next season.
