NZ vs AUS LIVE: Australia approached the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 tournament with zero hopes after the way they performed in the last three T20I series.

The Men in Yellow lost to South Africa, West Indies and Bangladesh in the last three T20I series. They also lost to Team India in the warm-up game ahead of the tournament.

Nobody really expected the Aussies to turn it around in the centre stage. The Aussies’ only defeat in the tournament came against England in the Super 12 stage.

They finished second on the group stage and went on to qualify for the semi-final. Australia defeated Pakistan in the semi-final to reach the second T20 World Cup final.

Aussies won the toss and elected to bowl first at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Kiwis posted 172 for the loss of 4 wickets in their quota of 20 overs.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson top-scored with 85 off just 48 balls. He struck a flurry of 10 boundaries and 3 hits over the fence. On the other hand, Josh Hazlewood took 3 wickets for the Aussies.

Australian captain Aaron Finch couldn’t be any happier with the team’s performance in the final. The boys chased down the target in 18.5 overs and won the game by 8 wickets.

Mitchell Marsh and David Warner played extremely well as they kept scoring runs at will. Marsh top-scored with 77 off 50 balls, including 6 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 154.

Warner scored 53 off 38 balls including 4 fours and 3 sixes. Meanwhile, Aaron Finch, at the post-match presentation, said: “This is huge, to be the first Australia team to do it. So proud of how the guys went about the campaign.”

When asked Bangladesh game turning point, Finch said: “Certainly was, backs were against the wall. We had to fight and certainly did that, had some great team and individual performances.

Talking about David Warner, Finch said: “Can’t believe people wrote him off a couple of weeks ago, it was almost like poking the bear.” Finch believes Zampa was the Player of the tournament for him.

“Zampa controlled the game, got big wickets, super player. Mitch Marsh, what a way to start, put pressure on from the start. Matt Wade came in under an injury cloud and got the job done. He came in the semi-final alongside Marcus Stoinis and did the business,” he concluded.
