The Catalans are on a roll in the ongoing transfer window as they have announced the signing a new player who made a name for himself during the World Cup.

Eric Abidal definitely knows a thing or two about Barcelona. And the club’s new sporting director is not just focused on the main team but also wants to improve the B team. As a result, Barcelona has announced the signing of Senegal’s young right back Moussa Wague.

Future in safe hands?

Wague has joined Barcelona from Belgian side KAS Eupen for an undisclosed fee. The 19-year old has already cleared the medical tests and will sign the contract in coming days. Meanwhile, the defender will start his training on Saturday at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper with none other than Lionel Messi and a few others.
Moussa Wague was a part of Senegal’s World Cup squad and even made history with his goal against Japan. With his goal in the 71st minute against Japan, Wague became the youngest African to score a goal in the World Cup. He has also played 40 games for his previous club, KAS Eupen in his one year in Belgium.
The defender will initially join Barcelona B side which currently plays in Spanish league’s third tier. But given his performances in the World Cup, Wague will be allowed to train with the first team from time to time. The Catalans expect Wague to develop rapidly and make it to the senior team in the coming seasons.

Barcelona is also close to signing Arturo Vidal from Bayern Munich according to various reports. The Catalans have built a perfect squad for the upcoming season as they look for yet another great season.
Messi and co. will kick-start the season with the Spanish Super Cup game against Sevilla on 12 August.

Author’s Take:

The signing of Wague can be a beginning of something special for the future of Barcelona. The Catalans have struggled at RB position after the departure of Dani Alves. They have been forced into using a quality midfielder like Sergi Roberto at the right flank. Wague can hopefully clear those issues in the coming seasons.
