This might be the first of the long list of players headed for the exit and it might also be the most emotional for the Manchester United fans.

Manchester United have confirmed the exit of Ander Herrera. The Spaniard, who joined United from Athletic Bilbao, is set to leave the club after five years. The Spaniard is yet to make any announcements regarding his future ventures. Herrera is a fan favourite and Sunday might be emotional for both the player and the fans.

Its Adios from the Spaniard

“There is red in my heart, I knew it from the first time I played here and in the moment that I started to wear it,” the Spaniard expressed in a farewell video released by the club.”A club with thousands of fans that respect and remember all the players who give everything.”

“I felt special when I heard my name chanted. I felt proud when the fans decided I was part of this incredible history. Every time I represented this club, in every game, in wins and loses, even when I couldn’t help from the grass, I understood what this club means.”

“I am going to remember each of the almost 200 matches that I have played with this jersey. Because playing for the greatest club in England has been a true honour.”

“Thanks for these five amazing years.”

Author’s Take

Ander Herrera is certainly a loss to the Old Trafford outfit. Herrera has been a key cog in the Solskjaer machine. His tenacity, the ability to pick a pass while evading the opposition press helped United in transition. The Red Devils played the best football under the Norwegian with Herrera mopping up in the midfield.

But it is not the end of the world for the English side as Herrera is set to join PSG. While the 29-year-old has been good, there are better players with similar attributes who are younger than him. If United can spend their money wisely, they can land an N’Dombele or even a Rabiot. Both the player are below 25 and more well rounded on and off the ball. It will be a tearful goodbye on Sunday but it is also the first step towards building the new Manchester United.
