La Blaugrana has announced that right back Aleix Vidal has completed a switch to back La Liga club Sevilla on Saturday.

Having just signed Arturo Vidal from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, the Spanish champions had to bid farewell to the Vidal who was at the club for the past three seasons. Arturo Vidal became the fourth major signing for Barcelona but the Catalonians decided to offload Aleix Vidal to be on terms with the Financial Fair play rules.

Having arrived at the Camp Nou back in 2015 from Sevilla after an impressive debut season at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Vidal found it extremely difficult to break into Barcelona’s first team with opportunities at scarce. Getting just 51 outings for Barcelona, the 28-year-old also found it a struggle to adapt to Barcelona’s style of play. Vidal was always linked with a move away from the Camp Nou and Sevilla have offered him that escape.

Vidal Joins Sevilla-

On Barcelona’s official website, the La Liga giants confirmed that a deal was agreed with Sevilla over a €10.5 million transfer fee regarding the purchase of Vidal,  “FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Aleix Vidal. Sevilla FC will pay FC Barcelona 8.5 million euros, plus 2m in variables. FC Barcelona expresses its gratitude to Aleix Vidal for his commitment and dedication and wishes him every success in the future. The player from Puigpelat ends his time at Barca after three seasons, from 2015/16 to 2017/18, and returns to the club he was signed from.”
Despite lacking regular football at Barcelona Vidal added some major honors to his CV collecting two La Liga titles, three Copa Del Rey’s, one Spanish Super Cup, one Club World Cup and a European Super Cup as well.  The Spaniard has already tasted Europa League success with Sevilla before and will be hoping to achieve more silverware when he moves to Andalusia.

I think that Barcelona made a good move by selling Vidal to Sevilla. He was struggling to make an impression despite spending three years at the club and did not adapt to Barcelona’s style of play. Hopefully, he can grow back to the player he once was at Sevilla.
