I love this game” is the term that has now become synonymous with Patrice Evra. However, on Sky Sports, he expressed not only his love but a lot of passion for Manchester United as well. The former Red Devils full-back has was present on Sky Sports as a pundit.

He was involved in a debate with former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. The latter argued that it is understandable why both teams very defensive and did not express themselves so much. While Evra argued that it is not acceptable to the fans and United played with a safety jacket.

Hasselbaink substantiated his arguments by saying that Chelsea needed this clean sheet because they conceded many goals. While he said the same for United as well. Evra on the other hand argued that since the 1-6 defeat to Tottenham, United have gained momentum and they should have attacked more.

Hasselbaink retaliated by stating that it would have damaged United’s morale if they conceded goals in the Chelsea game. He said that Chelsea should build on consecutive clean sheets to not let the 0-0 result go in vain. Evra also questioned Van De Beek’s lack of playing time.

The Norwegian refused to directly comment upon Evra’s thoughts on the game. The Red Devils only had four shots on target in the game. However, in just four Premier League games, they have already conceded twelve goals.

While their last Premier League opponent hasn’t fared well defensively. In their last five games Premier League games they have conceded twelve goals. Frank Lampard also adopted a conservative approach to the game with a back three.

This was Manchester United’s first clean sheet in the Premier League while Evra also labeled the game as ‘boring‘. Though Ole looked happy with his team performances as he cited that during the late phase of the game they created better chances than Chelsea.

He said, “We created the biggest chances. There are two good teams out there and we decided to get out of the box to get a foothold in the game.”. The former Cardiff City manager did not comment directly upon Van De Beek. He justified the inclusion of McTominay and Fred by stating that both of them give United a lot of energy in the midfield.

He said, “They (McTominay and Fred) are a great combination together and we felt after PSG this week we needed to have the energy in there with them.”

Is Patrice Evra right or wrong ?

Fred and Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United

When Evra was an active player, even under Sir Alex Ferguson, United once lost 1-6 at home to Manchester City. They responded in a very different fashion. The Frenchman was referring that the way United reacted should have been different.

However, he fails to understand that this, not the same Manchester United. The Red Devils no longer compete for Premier League, nowadays they are trying to reach the top four. They are in the process of building a team that can challenge for the Premier League. Thus they cannot afford to react in a similar fashion. However, like Hasselbaink said like Chelsea they should also try to build upon this clean sheet.

Manchester United will now welcome Bundesliga side, RB Leipzig, at home in the Champions League game. Then they will have to prepare for another big Premier League game as they will welcome Arsenal at home in the Premier League.
