Gunners are reportedly in talks to complete a double midfield swoop involving a £54m star from Lyon.
Arsenal are building a stronger side to post a challenge for the Premier League title this season. The Community Shield winners are now gearing up for the first week of Premier League fast approaching. Arteta is looking to start the season on a positive note with good team morale. Spaniard wants to revamp the defensive setup completely from scratch. However, Arteta is keen to retain the core from last season.
Arteta has also convinced Aubameyang to sign a contract extension with the Gunners. The reports claim that Aubameyang has signed a three-year contract with the club. The Gabon striker rejected two offers from rival clubs as per reports. As a result, Arsenal might sell their French forward Lacazette with Juventus interested in his signature.
Apart from Aubameyang’s stay, Arsenal has signed several targets this summer. All the signings are definitely in order to bolster their squad and add more depth. The done deals so far include Willian, Cedric Soares, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Pablo Mari from Flamengo. Out of four done deals so far, three of them are defensive signings. This clearly shows Arteta’s intention and focus.
Arteta’s prime target has been to work on his defense. Especially, during the end of last season Arsenal struggled a lot at the back. It was former Chelsea defender, who made plenty of mistakes leading to penalties. Adding on to that, German shot-stopper Leno got himself injured. However, Emiliano Martinez did a fantastic job for the Gunners at goal winning FA Cup and Community Shield.
However, Arteta is keen to bolster his midfield by the addition of two midfielders. According to The Athletic, Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign £54m-rated Houssem Aouar from Lyon and Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid. Dani Ceballos will again be donning Arsenal jersey this season on loan from his mother club.
Ceballos poised to seal Arsenal return
Arsenal are now in link with many midfielders likes of Thomas Partey and Barcelona’s Phil Coutinho. However, these stars haven’t been close to striking a deal with Gunners. While Dani is eager to join Mikel Arteta at Emirates after spending last season with Arsenal on loan. His loan stint proved to be worth a recall, just for his work-rate.
Spaniard put on a good shift in the middle of the park for Arsenal last season. The lad is now close to joining Arsenal once again on loan from Real Madrid. However, it’ll be again a loan deal just like last season. Dani has opposed a permanent move yet again and wants to be Madrista still.
According to Mirror via Athletic, Dani Ceballos is very close to joining Arsenal on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid. The 24-year-old made 37 appearances overall the last term for the Gunners under Arteta. Dani found the net twice and helped the side win FA Cup recently. Ceballos can have a bright future at Emirates just like Mikel Arteta by signing permanently.
Spanish mid can assume himself that he doesn’t have much chance to become started under Zidane. His work-rate is impressive without any doubt, but still, he has a lot to fight for his place at starting eleven or regular football. It’s a right move from him to opt for a loan move. Although, a permanent move to Emirates can help the lad build a future of his own.
Lionel Messi agrees with Kevin De Bruyne about Houssem Aouar
With just a week to kick-start Premier League 2020-2021, Arsenal are still busy in the transfer market. Gunners will travel for their first game to face Fulham at Craven Cottage. Arteta’s side is all geared up to fight for the title this season after decent signings. Houssem Aouar could be the next man to join Gunners alongside Dani Ceballos.
Comparing with other Arsenal’s shortlisted players, Aouar might be the player, who can gel and help the side to glory. Arteta can utilize the fullest from Aouar in the midfield after his scintillating performance with Lyon. Houssem was pulling the strings from the middle for Lyon in their Champions League campaign and whole season as well.
Lyon did well in their Champions League run reaching the semis, but sadly couldn’t win the trophy. Bayern Munich won it in style, although it was Aouar, 22, who caught everyone’s attention last term. Being considered as the hot prospect, Aouar’s stock is steadily on the rise. Arsenal would be happy to have him on their side after Frenchman got praise from City’s De Bruyne and Messi.
Messi said: “He is always calm with the ball at his feet with an excellent technical quality.” While, De Bruyne told Manchester Evening News that,”Lyon have a great team. I don’t follow the French league as much as other leagues, but if I have to pick one player that has impressed me from Lyon, it would be Houssem Aouar. He was fantastic.”
