Manchester City gaffer admits his side would need to cope up in the final games of Premier League without the important player.
Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League table as they edged stern Burnley side by 1-0. It was Sergio Aguero who handed his side with an all important lead in the second half and it was tale of very small margins.
Manchester City would get hands-on second successive Premier League title should they win the remaining two fixtures against Leicester City and Brighton & Hove Albion.
However, there might be a concern for Pep Guardiola in the remaining twp fixtures of the title slugfest as Fernandinho may be out for the rest of the season due to the injury.
Manchester City boss insisted,
“Really I don’t know,” he responded when asked when Fernandinho could return.
“I think maybe the last [game of the season] or maybe the [FA Cup] final, maybe. It’ll take a little bit longer.”
While insisting his reaction on win against Burnley, Guardiola said,
“It is not easy, especially with our [Champions League] defeat against Tottenham,” Guardiola said. “Our reaction has been outstanding, overwhelming, to come here without Kevin [De Bruyne], without Fernandinho, and play the way we played.”
“We have more than 20 points on United, Arsenal and Tottenham, it is incredible,” he said. “I could not expect that at the start of the season or especially in winter time. We have won 12 games in a row, it is incredible. We have time to rest and go to the Leicester game [next Monday], full gas.”
Premier League is witnessing one of the best title races. However, Manchester City remain in pole position to clinch the title but perhaps, anything could happen. They still have a tricky game against Leicester in hand and City needs to retain their tempo.
