Manchester City are said to be looking forward to signing Colombia International.
Manchester City are interested in signing Colombian international Juan Fernando Quintero, one of his country’s standout players at last summer’s World Cup, it is claimed.
According to EL VBAR in his homeland of Colombia, City are seriously considering a move for the 25-year-old, who is on loan at River Plate from FC Porto with the Argentine giants having an option to buy.
The 25-year old has been linked with Real Madrid, Tottenham and other clubs since the World Cup, while continuing to star for River Plate.
It is reported that any move to Manchester City would be through the agent Pere Guardiola, brother of Pep Guardiola.
Pere, through the Girona Football Group name, is a co-owner of Girona FC with the City Football Group and despite currently steering Brahim Diaz to Real Madrid, has a good relationship with City bosses.
Although, Quintero owned by Portuguese giants Porto, River Plate will almost certainly use their option to buy him, which would allow them to make a big profit by selling him on if they choose to.
How Quintero, an attacking midfielder who can play on the right wing would fit in at the Etihad isn’t clear! Or what the strategy would be for him. Whether to utilise him or perhaps loan him out to a club such as Girona?
Despite being a huge talent, Quintero would be up against some of Europe’s best midfielders for a spot in the City side. With Leroy Sané, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez currently fighting for two spots, and Bernardo Silva also capable of playing out wide.
The 25-year old has already been recognised as one of the most promising youth prospects.
His style of play is compared to that of Lionel Messi. Man City are considering him for the coming transfer window but he has already been linked to clubs like Real Madrid, Tottenham and other clubs since the world cup where he scored a goal against Japan. River Plate won’t want to lose him and are certainly planning to buy him from FC Porto.
