Philipp Lahm is a gem that any team would want to have. However, he stuck around at Bayern Munich for his entire career. He has now played 501 games for Bayern and has decided to hang his boots at the end of the season.
He would be completing 15 glorious years at Bayern, after making his debut in 2002. He remained at Bayern throughout his career, apart from 2 seasons on loan at VfB Stuttgart.
The 33-year-old had retired from the national side after leading Germany to victory during the 2014 world cup. He has taken his team to victory in almost every tournament. Whether it was the Champions League or the World Cup, he has won it all for his team. He has also enjoyed 7 Bundesliga titles, with a potential 8th this season.

After the game against VfB Stuttgart, Lahm announced that he would be retiring once the season was over. The news might have saddened a lot of German fans around the world, but it was a personal decision that Lahm chose to take.
His contract with Bayern was set to expire at the end of the next season, but he has decided to end his professional career this season. He did not feel he would be able to keep up his performance at the top level.
“I will end my career at the end of the season. ” Lahm told reporters “I have informed club officials about my decision. I can continue with my leadership style, giving my best every day, in every training, until the end of the season. I can keep doing it this season but not beyond.”
He has been one of the most well-behaved sportsmen both on and off the field. The full-back enjoyed moving around the pitch and has also entertained the crowd with his screamers. The way he took control of the football with his boots was simply magical. He is one of the only few players in the world to have never been given a red card.
