The international break is over and we are back with club football. Since then club football has returned to the Premier League. The Premier League is back with its game in week 9. The Game week 9 has some enthralling fixtures. The game week starts with an exciting North London Derby (Arsenal vs Spurs) and finishes off with the most awaited game in the premier league, The Manchester Derby.

Coming into the North London Derby, Arsenal hosted Tottenham Hotspurs at the Emirates Stadium. The North London Derby is always a special fixture with a lot of excitement and drama surrounding it. In the past, we have seen a highly intense North London derby wherein both Arsenal and Spurs have gone toe to toe against one another.

Coming into the two teams going against each other in the North London Derby. Arsenal has had an excellent start to their premier league campaign in ages. For the first time in 40 years, they have gone on winning the first five premier league games on the trot. Arsenal is looking like a completely balanced team. They are performing well on both ends of the pitch. Offensively the signing of Gabriel Jesus has been a game changer for them. Jesus since joining has given Arsenal’s attack a completely different dimension. In defense, the partnership of Gabriel and Saliba has been phenomenal.

But unfortunately, Arsenal’s perfect run in the premier league was rattled by rejuvenated Manchester United. The Red Devils defeated the Gunners in convincing fashion with a score line of 3-1. Thus Arsenal would definitely want to bounce back from that defeat. What better way to do it than defeating their arch-rival in the North London Derby?

Talking about Tottenham Hotspurs they too have had a brilliant season so far under Antonio Conte. Conte has transformed the Spurs completely. Conte has made Spurs into one of the prime contenders for the title this season. Conte’s approach has blossomed well at Spurs. Players are in complete sync with their manager’s philosophy and strategies. So far Spurs are just one point behind the league leaders Arsenal. Tottenham Hotspurs have a golden opportunity in this North London derby to defeat the Gunners and leapfrog over to the top of the premier league table.

Thus with the North London Derby upon us, we decide to take a look at a few players who can play a very important role for their respective teams in this highly intense fixture this weekend.

Players to watch out for in North London Derby

Tottenham Hotspurs

Pierre Emile Hojbjerg

Hojbjerg has turned out to be one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League with his jaw-dropping performances. He maintains full control of the midfield for his team along with significant contributions in attack and defense. His long-range passing skills and through balls are a delight to watch. If the Spurs retain control of the midfield, the match is surely theirs. The duel between Hojbjerg and Partey could well decide the fate of the encounter

His stats speak for him this year with some eye-catching performances. He already has registered 4 G+A in PL. Hojbjerg will surely do his duties yet again against Arsenal and show why he is such a gem of a player.

 Son Heung-Min

The South Korean forward has been sensational for Spurs over the years in matters of providing goals for the team upfront. He has been their most consistent man after Harry Kane and has contributed largely to Spurs’ winning causes. Once again, it will be a test of the winger’s efficacy against a strong defense like Arsenal’s one. Conte will wholly depend upon a revamped Son, who’s fresh from scoring a hat-trick last week, to get the much-needed goals for them.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane has been a consistent and reliable man for Spurs over the years. When other strikers are unable to score, Kane steps up and scores the goal for Tottenham. He has been an orchestra in front of a goal. Last season, Kane took a few games to realize his full potential. However, Conte was able to change the player’s attitude, and Kane went on a scoring rampage.

The 29-year-old has six goals in seven Premier League games this season and will be a threat to Arsenal because of his propensity to score. Kane is also the player with the most goals thus far in the North London derby.

Arsenal

William Saliba

Saliba was signed as a youngster and was sent out on loan season after season. But this season Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta decided to give Saliba a chance to prove himself and the player didn’t disappoint his manager’s faith. Saliba has started all the games for Arsenal in the premier league. He has been rock solid at the back. Arsenal’s defense has become much more robust since the addition of Saliba. Saliba has emerged as a proper defender.

He is pacey enough while tracking back, also his aerial has emerged as a strong option. He is good in both situations, be it defending aerial or in attack during set pieces. His quality on the ball has been instrumental in helping Arsenal both build and sustain attacking phases of play. Overall speaking if the Gunners have kept Spurs attackers at bay Saliba needs to have a monstrous game at the back.

Martin Odegaard

The Norwegian has been the most important player this year for Arsenal. He has been controlling the tempo of every game. Being the midfield guard and covering the entire field, Odegaard has stayed true to his surname. Every touch he makes, along with his passes that penetrate the defense, have added fluidity to the games, and he gets along well with his teammates. Thus Odegaard will be one to watch in the derby encounter thanks to his passionate playing and keen reading of the game.

Gabriel Jesus

The last player on our list for Gunners is none other than their star signing of the season Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian has added intensity to the team’s press and dynamism while in transitions. Jesus has been that clinical no.9 upfront finishing most of the chances fallen for him. The Brazilian has scored 7 goals in 7 premier league matches which includes some scintillating goals.

The new number nine for Arsenal doesn’t need to dramatically alter his style of play. His dribbling, combination play, and dropping deep will all be necessary to secure a victory. Whether or not he scores, his willingness to pressurize and harry opponents for the complete 90 minutes will inevitably cause the Spurs defenders difficulties.
