Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab locked horns with each other in the 43rd match of the IPL at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. It was a must-win game for both teams. SRH and KXIP gave absolutely everything in the game that had plenty of drama right from the start till the end.
When David Warner’s team were in firm control over the game, they messed it up completely. In the end, Kings XI Punjab capitalized on the chances and successfully won the game by a margin of 12 runs.
Kings XI Punjab pacer Chris Jordan was named the Man of the Match for his terrific bowling performance. The England international was the pick of the bowlers for KXIP as he picked 3/17 in four overs.
After a win over the Sunrisers, Kings XI Punjab moved to the fifth spot in the points table. KL Rahul-led KXIP secured 10 points with 5 wins and 6 defeats. Sunrisers are at the sixth spot with 8 points. David Warner-led SRH won 4 games and lost 7 games in their campaign.
Vijay Shankar picks up a nasty blow
During Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting, all-rounder Vijay Shankar picked up a nasty blow to his head while running between the wickets. The incident took place during the fourth ball of the 18th over bowled by Arshdeep.
When 18 runs were required off 15 balls, Sunrisers Hyderabad was rushing to score runs. SRH relied on Vijay Shankar and Jason Holder who was the last hope for the team.
The fast bowler Arshdeep pitched the ball short towards Jason Holder and the latter nudged it towards backward point. Nicholas Pooran quickly collected the ball and aimed at the stumps.
With Pooran missing the stumps completely, the ball ended up hitting Vijay Shankar on his face. Vijay Shankar badly wanted the single in order to get back on strike. Unfortunately, tragedy soon followed him around like a shadow.
The ball which traveled fast went on to hit Vijay Shankar’s face. Shankar dropped his bat and helmet down. The all-rounder picked up a painful blow to his head. SRH physios quickly arrived at the spot to treat their player.
Thankfully, there was nothing serious as far as Vijay Shankar’s physical condition is concerned. Vijay Shankar got back to his feet to give his team a much-needed hope. Unfortunately, he got out off the very next ball. Vijay Shankar fell prey to Arshdeep Singh’s bowling as KL Rahul took a good catch.

KXIP beat SRH
Kings XI Punjab posted 126 for the loss of 7 wickets in their quota of 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran top-scored for his team with 32 off 28 balls including two fours to his name. KXIP captain KL Rahul scored 27 off 27.
Sandeep Sharma, Jason Holder, and Rashid Khan picked two wickets each for Sunrisers Hyderabad. In reply to KXIP’s tricky target, SRH got off to a blistering start to the game in the form of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow.
The duo added a 56-run partnership for the opening wicket before Warner departed for 35 off 20. Since then, there was a batting collapse. Sunrisers lost the plot in their run-chase as they were bundled out for 114.
